PPCH - Drive air requirements (with Free Air Delivery requirements)

A PPCH high pressure hydraulic controller must have a stable drive air supply to control within its specifications. PPCH pressure controllers require a large volume of drive air to provide a stable high pressure fluid supply to its control valves.

Required Drive Air Pressure Supply and Flow Rate (from the PPCH manual):

PPCH-70M:   500 kPa (75 psi) min, 850 kPa (120 psig) max; 330 l/m at 700 kPa (10 cfm at 100 psig)
PPCH-100M: 700 kPa (100 psi) min, 850 kPa (120 psi) max; 330 l/m at 700 kPa (10 cfm at 100 psig)
PPCH-140M: 500 kPa (75 psi) min, 850 kPa (120 psi) max; 450 l/m at 700 kPa (15 cfm at 100 psig)
PPCH-200M: 700 kPa (100 psi) min, 850 kPa (120 psi) max; 450 l/m at 700 kPa (15 cfm at 100 psig)

 

Air compressor manufacturers most often specify FAD (Free Air Delivery) and this is at the compressor's inlet conditions, typically 20C and 101 kPa absolute or 70F and 14.7 psia.

Here are the same flow requirements in FAD (Free Air Delivery) quantities:

PPCH-70M:   2300 l/m at 101 kPaa (70 cfm at 100 psig)
PPCH-100M: 2300 l/m at 101 kPaa (70 cfm at 100 psig)
PPCH-140M: 3100 l/m at 101 kPaa (100 cfm at 100 psig)
PPCH-200M: 3100 l/m at 101 kPaa (100 cfm at 100 psig)
