Does my long scale DMM allow me to measure Ripple Factor from a Power Supply?

The amount of ripple in power supplies is often indicated by the Ripple Factor:

ripple factor

Where – Vripple(rms) is the rms value of ripple voltage at the output and Vdc is the absolute value of the power supply output dc value.

So the answer is "yes", most long scale DMM's 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5 can make a ripple measurement. You use the AC “coupled” measurement then the DC * 100 = (% of ripple)
