NI PXI-4065 to Met/CAL Interfacing

I have downloaded the "NI PXI_4065: (1 Year) CAL VER LIB / 5730" procedure and have not been able to determine the necessary interfacing to use the procedure.

Has anyone used this procedure that can point me in the right direction ?

You'll need to open up NI MAX and find out what the alias for that card that NI is seeing. Then, when you run the procedure in MET/CAL, it will ask for the alias. It will likely be something like "PXI1Slot3" or something, depending on where it is in your chassis.

Michael,

Thank you for the infomation.

I am looking for something more basic as to the NI Chassis type and interface control module for the chassis.

Do you know what Fluke or NI recommends ?

You definitely need to contact NI.  What I used to develop the PXI-4065 procedure may or may not be what NI recommends.

Any chassis and interface from NI will work the same. We use a MXI interface here, which I think is the most common for PXI chassis. As long as NI has drivers for it and the devices show up in NI MAX, you're fine.

We've checked, NI no longer sells their automated cal procedures to 3rd party labs (Cal-Executive). But they have manual procedures in their cal manuals that you can use to verify the Met/Cal procedure to.

I thought the original question was what NI hardware to use.  I wrote the procedure using 374460c.pdf.  I do not believe Rev D was available back then.

I have attached Crystal reports I generated when testing the procedures.

NI has told me they are currently working on a version of Cal Exec to sell publicly again, but I just write them in MET/CAL now that I've got the hang of it and it's better anyway.

I've never personally used a GPIB controller for a PXI chassis, but I've seen them and there's no reason it wouldn't work with this procedure. Most people I've seen use the MXI interface cards.

You can't control PXI Instruments with a GPIB card!
PXI and PXIE work like cards that are pluged into to your computers PCI or PCIE sockets.. None of this runs over GPIB..

Any PXI chassis from NI and a MXI interface card to go to a MXI controller card in the computer.
