Thinking about upgrading from Met/Track and Manual Met/Cal

Hi all,

Thinking about upgrading to Met/Team from Met/Track and Manual Met/Cal. Anyone done this yet, and if so what are the benefits/problems? I have over a thousand assests, and probably just as many data sheets built into Met/Cal.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott, If you are in the U.S., I would suggest that you attend one of the Fluke software user group meetings which are being held around the country. There you will hear from Fluke about all of the benefits of MET/TEAM, and you will probably hear from some MET/TEAM users about problems that they are having. You will also have the opportunity to talk to people one-on-one about their experiences with the software. If you navigate to the MET/CAL group on the Fluke Calibration Community web page, and click on the Events tab in that group, you will see a listing of all of the meetings that are being held. Scott,

We made the switch ourselves. We do not have as many assets as you do, but it is definitely a learning experience. There are some nice benefits of going to MET/TEAM, but you need to take your time organizing the migration process. The one huge negative of going to MET/TEAM from Manual MET/CAL is nothing transfers. All of your datasheets need to be manually re-done as manual templates. Plus I do not think that MET/TEAM works as smooth with the manual templates as Manual MET/CAL did. So make sure you review this portion.

To Tech,

All the Manual MET/CAL Templates do migrate to MET/TEAM Manual Templates in version 2.0 and greater of MET/TEAM.

What would be nice would be if MET/TEAM had an import utility that would allow templates that are stored as text files (with the .mds extension) to be imported, the way it is currently being done with Manual MET/CAL. Then I could export just the templates I need from Manual MET/CAL and re-import them one at a time into MET/TEAM.

I've even developed a few spreadsheet utilities that calculates all the test point uncertainties and generates a template that can be imported into Manual MET/CAL. The template import feature is sorely missed in MET/TEAM.

Bill,

I don't believe that this function has been presented. Where is this process covered?

When is the next user group meeting going to be held in Ohio? A colleague and I attended a user group yesterday, and we would like to try out some of the things that we took from that experience and report back when we have had time to use them. We would also like to see any of the new ideas that come from other groups.
