Initial Launch

We are getting ready for the startup of the Met-team software. Anyone have any pointers or advice for this?

Thanks

What software are you currently using?

I'd recommend spending considerable time thinking through required business rules and creating data checks as necessary to support your business rules.

Additionally, document your user permissions scheme ahead of time.

If you are currently using MetTrack/MetCal, do you use Manual MetCal?  If so, it may be prudent to wait until the release of MetTeam version 2.  The "datasheet" implementation in version 1 is not great.  It will not automatically port MMC datasheets, so you'd be stuck recreating all of them.  This would be a very time consuming task, given the datasheet creation interface in version 1.

Look real hard at the "files" features in MetTeam.  While this is an awesome capability, in some ways the implementation leaves something to be desired.  In the current version, there is no clean way to revise a procedure without breaking all links to existing Types and Assets.  This is something I'm hoping will be fixed in version 2.

For these reasons, among others, my decision has been to wait until release of version 2 before attempting to implement MetTeam.  I've been told it should happen fairly soon so, for me, it's worth waiting a bit longer in the hopes that some of the major areas of concern are addressed.

Kevin,

In the next release we are planning on having a "copy" button on the Procedures that will solve your "files" issue.

Awesome, Bill.  I know this is something we had discussed at some length during the MetTeam training session, but I didn't know what, if anything, was going to be implemented in the next MetTeam release.  This is great news.
