MetTeam Data Check - Set Value of Extended Data Field

Can anyone tell me the correct format to set the value of an Extended Data field in a data check? I attempted to use “DataCheck.SetValue(‘cField1’,’1001’)” to set the value of Work Order exData cField1 to “1001”, but I get an error when I attempt to run it / save the work order.

Since there is a different command to read the value of an extended data field, I assume there is a different command to write to it, but I could find no documentation in the help file or forum.

Met/Team version 2.0.5.200.

Thanks,

Chris

Per Fluke Support, only the extended data fields on the RECEIVING page can be modified by a data check.

What page are you doing this on? Edit Assets page?

No, the Work Order / Call Sheet. I need to set a contract billing code just prior to closing the WO, so doing this on the Receiving page doesn't do us much good. Since this is for billing, I want to automate this process to eliminate the possibility of human error. My data check performs logic based on the customer facility location, asset type and whether the cal was successful, limited or rejected (all use different codes).

I was told the ability for a data check to modify exdata on other views may come next year. For now, I've repurposed an un-used field on the call sheet to hold this information, and it's working perfectly. Not best practice, but it'll do for now.

Chris,

I attempted to use a datacheck that ran a update sql statement but can't seem to get it behave properly so I think what you are doing is the best work around.

Best Regards,

Josh
