Issues with O_CAL FSC

I am trying to get the O_CAL Impedance Measement mode to work.  Every time I try to debug the part of the code to take a reading in MetCal Editor, the whole program shuts down.  I tried the code in the FSC help file and the same thing happened.  Has anyone else had this problem?   Is there something I am missing to prevent this from happen?

I have modified all of my O_CAL procedures for the 5500, 5520 or 9500 FSC's. I've had trouple in the past with O_CAL procedures working on one or the other of these calibrators, but not all. They don't just lock up, they crash big time! I just gave up on O_CAL! I don't have a 5502 or 5522 to test them on though.

Interesting.  We have been using the O_CAL FSC exclusively and without problems since its introduction.  Can you let me know which version of MET/CAL you are both using?  Can you also supply the code that is causing problems?

Thank you,

Chad D.

At the time, I think I was using version 7. The procedure, Fluke 190 series, worked on the 5520/SC6, but crashed on the 5500/SC3. This was the only time I had a problem.

Thanks, Bill!  Is there any chance you can share the associated procedure code with me for review?  If you'd rather not post it, you can also send it to softwaresupport@flukecal.com, just put something like ATTN: Chad in the subject.

Chad, I don't have the code any longer. I taked to someone at Fluke a long time ago and they told me how to fix it. They updated the code on the next CD. I think this was in 2011 on a Tektronix DPO or MSO 3000 procedure. The problem was with markers. Based on your comments, I'll probably start using O_CAL again. I actually do use it now on the Fluke 190 Series II and Tektronix DPO/MSO 3000 Series scopes. These procedures (projects) work fine.

No problem, thanks for checking into this and responding!  I'm glad to hear you are willing to give the O_CAL FSC another try, it is really nice for both developers and procedure users. :)  If you run into any problems with it in the future, please let us know and we'll help you through them or get the FSC fixed.

I've used O_CAL with 5522A and markers recently and saw no problem. Without very specific details, it is unverifiable, because there are so many cases possible!

I have been using Met-Cal 8.3 and this was some code in the FSC help file trying to troubleshoot the problems I have been having.

 21.001 O_CAL Mode = ImpedanceMeas; +Res = 1.00 MOhm; Measure 21.002 MEMC 1.00MOhm 0.03U

Hi Michelle, thank you for the additional information.  Which calibrator and options are you using?

I am trying to use a 5522A with SC1100 option installed.  My big issue is that I was trying to debug the sample code in the editor software and everytime it came to an impedance measurement it would freeze editor.  My computer would then close down the editor software and I would have to bring up my project again.  Not really an issue, I understand.  I know I can advance the procedure ahead of that test, but I would like to see how the test would run from start to finish.

This is an interesting topic (Met/Cal procedure writing class starts in 6 - 7 weeks).  I don't find stated what program Michelle is attempting to edit, wondering if it is a 5500 or 5520 procedure, and I am curious of  how instalation of "VariableStandards" would affect this problem. Would that be a simple solution?

I was editing a 5800 procedure.  I am going to work on a variable standard procedure after I get this one working.  For my lab, we like to have one procedure using just a calibrator so that we can take less equipment for onsite calibration.  If possible, we like to keep the meters avaiable for manual calibrations.  I know that is an option and have looked into the implementaion and converting it will not be an issue.
