Hi,  I researched the project (sub-procedures included) and do not find reference to what PXI chassis models can be used, and if/what model "controller" card is needed.  Any details available?

Hi Don,

I don't think your question is for me.

The Chassis won't matter. You basically address the unit by its alias in NI MAX, so it's not tied to chassis or controller card.

Michael,

In saying "the chassis won't matter", do you think the Adlink PXES-2780(G) mainframe (3U 18SlotPZI Exp chassis that is where the PXI-4065 is used would be useable for caibration verification of the DMM card?

Besides the NI PXI-4065, the chassis also has NI PXI-5114, NI PXI-GPIB and a NI PXI-8360 MXI-Express controller for remote PCI control.  I believe te GPIB controls other instruments (Agilent m/f Switch/Measure Unit and Function/Arb generator) in the station.

As long as you can see it in NI MAX and see the alias of the 4065 itself, you should be fine. The MET/CAL procedure uses the LIB FSC to utilize the NI Drivers, so as long as NI can see the card, it can use it.

Hello Kane,

I replied in your other thread, but basically you need to have an interface for the PXI chassis on your computer.

If you're using a notebook, it's going to be harder to find an interface that will work. National Instruments would be able to assist with finding the best option.

Michael,

I have a PXIe-1071 chassis with a PXIe-8820 controller.  Does METCAL need to be installed on the controller or can I run METCAL from my Desktop computer which already runs METCAL to verify NI cards?

Hello,

I'll admit I'm not completely familiar with that controller, but it looks like you'd need to install MET/CAL on the controller itself to run the PXI procedures without needing a separate control method from the desktop to the PXI chassis through a MXI interface, for example.
