Printing stickers from Met/Team using browser "Chrome"

Use of our Brother P-Touch PT9600 label printer had been going smoothly when printing a sticker before closing the work order.  Clicking on the printer icon would open a preview, selecting Print from the preview window would start the printing sequence and it worked fine - until late last week.  Now, the File Save window opens to save the labe as a "Render Report" with a incrementing number in the file name to My Documents, so I have to save it, then open the file to print it.  What happened?  What's a resolution?

Thanks!

Don

A detail omitted in the origna post, this concerns use Met/Team with the browser Chrome, the actions towards printing when opening Met/Team wit Internet Explorer are significantly different, but using IE is my work-around.

Don,

Clear the contents of your downloads folder and retry. Not exactly sure why it does this but we expierence the same problem. Once our download folders reaches a certain limit chrome will prompt to save the rendered report rather than saving automically. Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,

Josh

I will say that from my expierence you want to use Chrome as well. Chrome seems to handle MET/TEAM much better the internet explorer from a performance stand point from my expierence.

Josh,

Thanks for yor input, but we looked into that already.  I have a file saved (delete_cache.bat) that I run weekly at minimum (sometimes daily) and that hasn't helped.  Thanks for your reply to Brian's post too (co-worker).

Don,

Does that bat file just remove the contents of your downloads folder? Are you using chrome's pdf viewer? Within Chrome navigate to chrome://plugins/ and see if you have the "Chrome PDF Viewer" enabled.

Don,

Another thing to look at is on Chrome:

1. Click on menu icon.

2.Click on Settings

3. Scroll down and click show advanced settings.

4. Find downloads section and make sure that the "Ask where to save each file before downloading" box is unchecked.

Don,

If those suggestions do not work. Can you do one other thing for me. Right click on that .bat file click "edit" and open that program in notepad. I want to see what the bat file is actually doing. Deleting cache and delete contents of your downloads folder is two sepearte tasks.

Try this:

1. While in chrome press go to chrome://downloads/

2. Press "OPEN DOWNLOADS FOLDER"

3. When in downloads folder select all files and delete.

Josh,

That file is present and a second with similar "MIME" type at a differnt location.  I saved a snip to attach.

Going forward to your next message following my response, the "Ask where to save each file before dwnloading" box had been set by direction, we'll try it with not being checked.

And, regarding the third message - I am completely certain that the downloads were cleared by that .bat file run.

Now that I have altered the "Ask where to save each file" check box, the print preview opens (not fle save) and another programs performs in the same way (Great!) and I'm back in business.  Thanks for your help.

Does anyone else notice characters are missed as you type here?

Don,

Excellent I am glad that solved your issue.

In our application we actually disabled the chrome pdf viewer. Then set adobe pdf viewer to automatically open pdf's downloaded through chrome because we had trouble with the chrome pdf viewer. As long as it works for your application is all that counts though.

Best Regards,

Josh

I also thought of this idea before, but we are only limit to other browsers and that chrome also crashes as always. Our business print materials are then commissions to other printer like [[http://www.digitekprinting.com/]],.
