What Version of MET/CAL are you using?   And what instrument are you trying to communicate with?

I have to ask becasue we have been doing LAN Communications with instuments for about 10 years now.  Depending on the Version of MET/CAL and the communication requirements of the UUT it could be very difficult or it could be simple.

We are using version 8 and communication should take place with power analyzers Norma 4000.

Hello Pavel, the VISA FSC is typically used in MET/CAL to communicate with LAN and USB instruments.  From the VISA FSC help entry:

The VISA FSC is used to control UUT's that can be accessed using the National Instruments Visa (NI-VISA).

The VISA FSC is used to control the UUT when specific reference to the remote control interface used is not desired. Example: The UUT has a number of remote control interface options, GPIB (IEEE-488), RS-232, USB, and LAN (Ethernet). For this case, it might be desirable to write a single procedure for the UUT that would work regardless of which remote control option were selected.

Supported interfaces include:

GPIB (IEEE-488)

Serial (RS-232)*

LAN "TCP/IP" (Ethernet), VXI-11 compliance required

USB, USBTMC compliance required

A very simple procedure to test operation:

  1.001  VISA         *RST
  1.002  VISA         *IDN?[I$]
  1.003  DISP         Identification query returned:
  1.003  DISP         [MEM2]
