Error 1920 Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Anybody seen this error?  Was trying to install the trial version.  Stated it could not start email alerts.  Clicking cancel halted the install.

Larry,

On some machines, the Email Alerts service may take longer to start up than the timeout period (30 seconds) of the process that is attempting to start it. Instead of clicking the Cancel button, open the Services console in Control Panel and verify that the Fluke MET/TEAM Email Alerts Engine service indicates “Started” in the Status column, then click the Retry button on the error message box and the isntallation will continue as expected.

If you find that the service status never says "Started", try starting the service manually by right-clicking it and selecting Start from the popup menu. Doing this may provide further information as to why the service is unable to start. If this is the case on your system, let me know and I can help you get through this problem.

Thanks Alan,

Upon opening the Services, it is listed but not started.  I tried to right click and manually select "Start" and it comes up with a pop-up window stating "Windows could not start the Fluke Met/Team email alerts engine service on local computer"   Error 216:0xd8

Thanks for your assistance on this.

Larry,

If you look in the Windows Event Viewer (in either the System or Application logs), can you locate any errors related to the Fluke MET/TEAM Email Alerts service? If so, can you tell me what those errors are?

Thanks,

Alan

That is very interesting. Thanks for posting this information. It wil help in solving the problem. If you are able, can you create a ZIP archive of the contents of the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Fluke\METTEAM Email Alert Engine" folder and email it to me? You can send it to softwaresupport@flukecal.com and reference me.

Larry,

I received your file. It appears the EXE file is corrupt. Windows does not recognize it as a valid executable file.

Did you download the MET/TEAM trial or did you receive it on a DVD? If you downloaded it, I would try performing the download again. You can verify whether the downloaded ISO image is good by performing an MD5 check on it using a program such as winMD5Sum (http://download.cnet.com/WinMD5Sum/3000-2381_4-10115916.html). The MD5 value for the current MET/TEAM ISO image (version 1.0.4) is: 1c82ead5948ede5c059a93d6a1cfb8b5

The MET/TEAM Trial ISO image can be downloaded from here:

Re-downloaded the iso file from your link, verified the MD5 value for image, re-installed MET/TEAM and voila.  Thanks for you help.
