Email Format

I'm adding users to my Met/Team database and it does not seem to accept the format of my email address.

Its in format "first.last@company.net" an apparently ".net" is simply unacceptable, because it will take it with the ending of ".com".

It pops up with a message: "Attention: The email format does not seem to be correct" and does not allow me to save until I either leave it blank or give it a proper format.

Any advice on how to change the accepted format so that it takes alternative email formats? Because my company isn't going to change our domain because I ask them to.

Thanks!

There is a data check on the Users page that checks the format of the email address. You get to it by going to Configure => Data Checks. The data check is named "Users - Require Valid Email". The default data check as it ships from Fluke (at least in the version that we are running v2.0.4) only checks for a ".com" and an "@" symbol to consider an email address as valid. If you know Javascript, you can edit the data check to also pass if it sees ".net" in the email address, or you can just turn the data check off by setting it as Inactive.

That makes sense, however Cofigure => Data Checks is faded dark and disabled. Perhaps it is because I am using the Express version of MET/TEAM 2.0.5.

I am not familiar with the Express version, but if you are signed in as Admin user and it is greyed out, then the Express version must not allow access to that menu. Perhaps one of the Fluke people monitoring this group would be kind enough to respond with a more definitive answer. Good luck!

The email verification code in the Data check seems to be way to primitive.

A Regex is usually used and other solutions are also discussed.
Regex examples are easy to find with a simple google search, a good one may requre some testing.

Example of code: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/46155/validate-email-address-in-javascript
and http://programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/78353/how-far-should-one-take-e-mail-address-validation

Could perhaps someone with some MetTeam/JavaScript skills (that I dont have yet) please be kind to give an example of an updated code that we can cut and paste into the Data Check.
