Instrument Names (System Instruments, User-configured Instruments, and Manual Standards) are unique in MET/CAL.  Only one unique Instrument Name (e.g. "HP 34401A") can be configured at any time.  The 34401 FSC System Instrument name is "HP 34401A".  The 34401 FSC can be used to control only one 34401A.

Here is what I would do.

1. 1st 34401A: Configure "HP 34401A" and use the 34401 FSC or DMM Flexible Driver with alias "DMM".

2. 2nd 34401A: Configure "Agilent 34401A" with alias "DMM2".  Clone the DMM Flexible Driver as follows:

2a. Copy sub_driver_dmm.txt to sub_driver_dmm2.mc

2b. Copy sub_send_cmd_dmm.txt to sub_send_cmd_dmm2.mc

2c. Change ALL instances of [@DMM] in the above cloned files to [@DMM2].

2d. Call the subprocedures in sub_driver_dmm2.mc and sub_send_cmd_dmm2.mc to control the second 34401A.

If you are a MET/SUPPORT Gold subscriber, the file (sub_driver_dmm.txt) is included with any Fluke Calibration warranted procedure with dmm or DMM in the file name and /DMM in the INSTRUMENT lines.

Did you search for and download a procedure with "DMM" in the project name?  Projects for main procedures with "DMM" in the name will include the subprocedures for the DMM Flexible Driver.
